Chili Social & Fox Hunt – November
The annual PRA Chili Social, hosted by Stan – NØKKY!
First Annual PRA Jeep Outing – October
The PRA held its first annual Jeep off-road get together in October. The chosen trail was Devil’s Canyon, in the Arapaho National Forest (elevation around 10,250′). Contacts were made all over the country, on 40 through 10 meters.
POTA Time with the PRA! – August
The PRA Portable Ops Group gathered for a Parks on the Air (POTA) activation at Barr Lake State Park – POTA Park K-1209.
A SOTA Triple Header! – July
Dan – N2SRK and Scott – NAØMT continue their SOTA adventures heading out on a gorgeous summer day to activate three (THREE!) SOTA Peaks! They activated Roger’s Peak (WØC/PR-025 el 13,392’), Mt. Evans (WØC/FR-003 el 14,265’), and Mestaa’ehehe Mountain (WØC/PR-082 el 11,499’). Together they logged nearly 75 contacts. Well done gentlemen!
Field Day! – June
KØPRA does Field Day in Teller County. Community, camaraderie, conversation, camping, campfires, cookouts, & contacts: “CQ Field Day” at Colorado Campground!
Parker Days – June
The PRA provided communications support for the Parker Days Festival the weekend of the 10th. The weather was crazy, with heavy rain on Saturday, then the event was closed Sunday afternoon due to heavy rain/hail and lightning. The lightning detector counted nearly 200 strikes in just 20 minutes all within 2 miles!
Radio Weekend on La Veta Pass – May
Dane – KG5SOR and his wife Elizabeth hosted Wayne – NØAD and his wife Heather – NØADN for a weekend of radio fun at their La Veta Pass getaway in Southern Colorado.
The PRA Activates POTA! – May
The PRA Portable Ops Group hosted a Parks on the Air (POTA) activation at Castlewood Canyon State Park – POTA Park K-1211.
The PRA Does SOTA! – April
Dan – N2SRK and Scott – NAØMT brave the snow to activate Chief Mountain for Summits on the Air. Chief Mountain’s SOTA designator is WØC/FR-030 with an elevation of 11,710′.
Parking Lot Wireless Rodeo – April
The PRA braves the elements for the annual Parking Lot Wireless Rodeo, where members get together to show their mobile and portable ham radio gear.
WØUV – Mini-DXpedition to Turks and Caicos – April
John – WØUV logged over 400 contacts in 58 DXCC countries during his Mini-DXpedition to the Caribbean. Well done working those pileups, John!
Self Reliance Expo – April
KØPRA presents information on amateur radio communications for attendees of the Self Reliance Expo in Kiowa at the Elbert County Fairgrounds.
