Public Service Opportunity – Tour de Cure

Here is an opportunity to participate in a public service event with our friends at ARESDEC.

From Jim Rooney, N4JJR, EC ARESDEC:
You are invited to participate in and assist with communications on the Amercan Diabetes Assn’s largest Colorado fundraiser: the Colorado Tour De Cure (see event link) on Sep 24th at Salisbury Park in Parker (link to map to Salisbury Park). The event spans 32 miles N-S and 16 miles E-W, with over 205 miles of roads across four routes. The event organizers are expecting over 3,000 participants, supporters and family members to attend, either biking, walking or partaking in the other activities such as rides, food tents and vendor exhibits in the park.

During this event ARESDEC will provide an Incident Communications Center (ICC), RADOs (radio operators) to rest stops, aid stations and course sweeps, and communications support to over 25 law enforcement officers from five agencies manning 20 traffic aid locations, on-course medical support teams and event communications and situational awareness to event management.

Run as an ICS planned event, this will be a superb training opportunity for amateur radio operators (AuxComm) and RADOs. See this link to a map of all four course, rest stops, aid stations and traffic assistance locations. Incident Performance Evaluations will be available to those with open task books.

If you (or other personnel) are interested in participating or observing as a guest, please send me their name, callsign and agency and I will add them to my planning list.

Thank you for your continued support.
If you are interested in participating, please contact our Richard, K1RAB, at k1rab AT yahoo DOT com or contact Jim, N4JJR at rooney-family AT comcast DOT net with the information asked for above.
