In the odd chance that you may not have noticed, the Members of the PRA are all about playing radio, having fun, and keeping the squelch loose. Well, a few members teamed up to create a functional D-Star / Analog / EchoLink monster, er, bridge…
A detail from the PRA’s Mad Scientist, Kris, KD0YCR
After many trials, tribulations, grey hairs and a lack of sleep I’ve FINALLY got the D-Star piece worked into the PRA network.
As of right now:
XRF223B is bridged to W0CFI analog, which is bridged to EchoLink node K0PRA-L. Get connected on one and you’ll be talking to everyone no matter how they’re connected.
There can be up to a full second delay to go from the analog end to the digital end and back. Leave pauses between your transmission so others can disconnect, jump in, etc.
This is still HIGHLY experimental. Please let me know if you have any problems, notice any weirdness, or think the audio needs adjusting.
Jump on it and try it out! Just be aware if anything starts acting up I may take it all down to figure out what’s going on. If you can’t get on just let me know, there’s a better chance it’s my fault than yours, LOL!
Finally, there are two people who deserve a HUGE thanks – Paul, AC5S and Patrick, KT1GGR. The servers powering all of this were donated by Paul, and everything is running of a UPS donated by Patrick, so our PRA network will stay up and running when the power goes down! None of this would be up and running without their help – thank you!
