The Parker Radio Association, along with members of the Pikes Peak Radio Amateur Association, joined over three thousand Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and adult leaders are at Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch in Elbert County on September 19 for the Denver Area Council Camporee to demonstrate and discuss the many aspects of Amateur Radio. PRA club members who attended included Paul Brown (AC5S), Richard Browning (K1RAB),Charlie Eaton (KØMSO), Scott Jennings (WQ8M), Ralph Fenzlaff (KDØUCB), and Patrick Malone (KT1GGR). PPRAA club members Jim Bishop (KDØKQL) and Raleigh Holcomb (N4HYF) also joined us. Several stations were setup, demonstrating different antennas and radios. There was also a Morse code demonstration and a D-Star display. There was a lot of interest from the Scouting community, and we were well received. We all felt that this is an event that we will be supporting in the future!
Towards the end of the day, we were all treated to a sky diving demonstration, as nine sky divers jumped from an Apache helicopter.
