February ARRL Night – February 17th

As those who have attended a monthly Parker Radio Association meeting can attest, we have excellent monthly presentations. The month of February will be no exception.  Be sure to mark your calendars and join us on February 17th, starting around 6:30PM at Southeast Christian Church in Parker.  Here is the upcoming line-up of scheduled presenters:

These four gentlemen make up a few of the finest representatives of the ARRL in the country and we are fortunate to have their expertise, service, and passion serving Colorado hams.

Jack, WMØG, is the Colorado Section Manager, representing Colorado hams at the ARRL national level. He will be highlighting the ‘behind the scenes’ activities with the ARRL and will be available to answer your questions regarding activities with the League.

Dick Williams, K8ZTT, is not only a member of the PRA, but President of Mile High DX Association and serves the ARRL as the Rocky Mountain Division DXCC Card Checker.  He will be giving an overview of Logbook of the World (LOTW) and will be able to answer your questions regarding LOTW.

Robert Wareham, NØESQ, is the State Government Liason for the ARRL in Colorado. In February 2009, Robert was successful in adding an express exemption for ham radio operators to the “handsfree cellular phone” that was eventually enacted as a “no texting while driving” law. The language exempting licensed amateurs remained in the final version and is a precedent setting part of the statute. Robert is also very active Emergency Communications and holds several appointments at the local, state, and regional ARES. He will be presenting on the legislative work being done on behalf of Colorado hams on various topics.

Randy Reynard, WØRDR, is the North Central Regional Coordinator for ARES Colorado. He oversees Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder/Broomfield, Denver City/County, Douglas/Elbert, Jefferson/Clear Creek/Gilpin, and DIA districts. He is also a PRA member and has done amazing presentations on DMR and weather spotting over the past year. He will be available to answer any questions regarding ARES activities or inquiries on membership.

What an amazing opportunity we have to learn from these very knowledgeable and talented gentlemen.  Bring your questions, along with you smiling faces and we look forward to seeing you!

My wife and I attended our first meeting yesterday, 2/17/15. It was a very interesting session. We submitted our membership and we’re both looking forward to learning more. Gary KD0VMS and Kathleen. And she has a healthy interest in getting her ticket….

    • Gary, great to have you both at the meeting and we look forward to seeing you guys at future meetings. Let us know how we can help you on your ham radio journey!
