With the consistently inconsistent weather that we have had over the last few weeks, we were surely able to put our weather spotting to use. With the a few days of perfect weather squeezed in, hopefully you were able to dust off your hiking boots and hit the hills for some hiking and radio fun. A few of us were able to hit the hills recently and work DX on 5W.
Upcoming June Monthly Meeting Preview
It is that time again to mark you calendars for Tuesday, June 17th, at Southeast Christian Church on Jordan Road in Parker (between E-470 and Lincoln Avenue) starting with an introductory meet and greet at 6:30 and our business meeting starting approximately 6:45. Our monthly presentation will be on the basics (and we do mean basics) of D-Star.
The Parker Radio Association has the opportunity to team up with our friends at ARESDEC (ARES of Douglas and Elbert Counties) to support a local event, Tour de Ladies. Tour de Ladies is a non-competitive bicycle event taking place on July 12th. The best part about it, it is in our backyard in Parker. We will have many more details to review at our meeting, but this is an exciting opportunity for our Organization to partner with a seasoned group in ARESDEC and to get the Parker Radio Association name out to the community. Part of our Mission is to support our community and it will help get our name “cycling” (HA! HA!) through the community. Check your calendars and let us know if you can assist in this event. The basics needed are a good HT, with spare battery. If you have mobile APRS capabilities, that would be a HUGE help. Respond to this email if you can participate or let us know on Tuesday night. The sooner we know, the better we can plan. As with tradition, the squelch is loose…if you have never participated in this type of event, or need a refresher, we have you covered and will support this as a positive experience for you. Training provided…No surprises, no catches. 100% fun guaranteed.
We will also have plenty of information on Field Day, membership growth, our website enhancement, club insurance, logos (let us know what you think of the attached submitted logo), shirts and other shwag.
Please help us spread the word about the Parker Radio Association. Invite a friend, share our internet links, and promote our great hobby. We look forward to seeing you this coming Tuesday, June 17th ! Until then, have fun, play radio, and keep the squelch loose. Take note of our new website!
